Last days of Disco: Movie Review

What a strange movie this was. It was made in the late 90’s by director Whit Stallman. The movie is loosely based around the last days of disco, the last days being the early 80’s. The story brings together a strange group of people, that are connected in one way or the other though the latest to be seen disco venue.

The story hooks up to a gang of people who are all connected in one way or the other, through the disco club that is the latest to be seen venue.

It’s not long into the movie when your wondering why this group of people even hang out together. They are the strangest mix of people to be put together. You’re just left wondering why they would hang out with each. One of the girls you just want to strangle, she is a nasty piece of work. Then her friend you want to slap as well for sticking around with the bitch. The guys don’t fair better either, its pretty much the same role mirrored. The break away characters don’t let you down either with there back stabbing. If it was the director’s angle to make you not like most of these people, then it was a job well done.

This being said I rather enjoyed the movie. I guess when you are left asking why all the way through and hoping some people get what’s coming to them, then movie really had thought provoking intentions. The cinematography really had the 80’s feel about it.

Fan or not of disco music the soundtrack is going to want to make you jump up and bust some moves.
